These operating instructions must be kept constantly available close to the headphones. They are to be read and applied by everyone assigned to operate, and eliminate faults in, the headphones. Retain these operating instructions and pass them on with the headphones to any future owners. Copyright This documentation is copyright protected. Any duplication and/or reprinting, entirely or partially, as well as reproduction of illustrations, also in modified form, is only permitted with written consent from the manufacturer. Limited liability The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for damage caused by failure to observe the instructions, improper use, inappropriate repairs, making unauthorized changes or for using unapproved replacement parts. Intended use These headphones are intended to be used exclusively for the noncommercial listening of audio material. This device is not intended for any other use or for uses beyond those mentioned. Claims of any kind for damage resulting from unintended use will not be accepted. The operator alone bears liability. 2 SKH 40 A1 Introduction Warnings In these extant operating instructions the following warnings are used: WARNING A warning at this risk level indicates a potentially dangerous situation. If the dangerous situation is not avoided it can lead to injuries. Follow the directives in this warning to avoid personal injuries. TAKE NOTE A warning at this risk level signifies potential property damage. If the situation is not avoided it can lead to property damage. Follow the directives in this warning to avoid property damage. NOTICE A notice signifies additional information that assists in the handling of the device. GB SKH 40 A1 3 Safety GB Safety In this chapter you will receive important safety information regarding the handling of the device. These headphones comply with the prescribed safety regulations. Incorrect usage can lead to personal injury and property damage. Risk of hearing damage WARNING Risks as a result of extremely high sound levels! Loud music can lead to hearing damage. Avoid extreme sound levels, especially over long periods of time, when you are using these headphones. Risk of accidents WARNING Danger through impaired perception! Acoustical warning and indication signals and environmental noises can sound different when you are wearing these headphones. Make yourself aware of how these signals deviate in their sound so that you can recognise the signals in the appropriate situations. Do not use the headphones when operating an automobile, a bicycle or in any other situation in which impaired environmental sound perception could present a danger to yourself or others. 4 SKH 40 A1 Safety Basic Safety Instructions For safe handling of the headphones pay heed to the following safety information: Before use, check the headphones for visible external damage. Do not operate headphones that are damaged or have been dropped. Damaged cables or connections should be replaced by authorised qualified personnel or by the Customer Service department. Individuals who, due to their physical, intellectual or motor abilities, are incapable of operating the headphones safely must only use them under the supervision or direction of a responsible person. Permit children to use the headphones only under supervision. Repairs to the headphones may only be carried out by authorised specialist personnel or by the Customer Service department. Incompetent repairs may result in risks for the user. In addition, warranty claims become void. Repairs to the headphones during the warranty period may only be carried out by a Customer Service department authorised by the manufacturer, otherwise no additional warranty claims can be considered for subsequent damages. Do not carry out any unauthorised reconstruction or customisation to the headphones. Protect the headphones from moisture and penetration by liquids. Do not use the headphones in the vicinity of open flames. GB SKH 40 A1 5 Commissioning GB Commissioning WARNING Pakaging materials may not be used as playthings. There is a risk of suffocation! Items supplied and transport inspection The headphones are supplied with the following components as standard: Headphones These operating instructions NOTICE Check the contents to ensure that they are complete and for visible damage. If the delivery is not complete, or is damaged due to defective packaging or through transportation, contact the Service Hotline (see chapter Service). Disposal of the packaging The packaging protects the headphones from transport damage. The packaging materials are selected from the point of view of their environmental friendliness and disposal technology and are therefore recyclable. The recirculation of packaging into the material circuit saves on raw material and reduces generated waste. Dispose of packaging material that is no longer needed in compliance with the regionally established regulations. 6 SKH 40 A1 Operating elements/Handling... Operating elements (see fold-out page) Left earpiece 2 3 4 GB Adjustable headband Right earpiece 3.5mm Jackplug Handling and operation Putting the headphones on When putting the headphones on, pay heed to the side markings "R" (right) and "L" (left) on the ear pieces + 3. Arrange the adjustable headband 2 so that the headphones sit comfortably on your head and the ear pieces cover the ears. Using the headphones You can connect the headphones to a variety of playback devices (e.g. CD, DVD, MP3 players, hi-fi systems, PCs and laptops). To listen to music, proceed as follows: Insert the 3,5 mm jack plug 4 into the socket on the playback device. Switch the playback device on and adjust the sound volume to minimum. Place the headphones on your head as described in the section "Putting the headphones on". Then adjust the sound volume on the playback device to the desired level. SKH 40 A1 7 Handling .../Cleaning/Storage GB Storage of the headphones These headphones are equipped with rotating and tilting ear pieces, so as to be able to fold them together and save storage space. TAKE NOTE Possible damage to the headphones! Rotating the earpieces in the wrong direction can damage the earphones. To fold the headphones together, proceed as follows: + 3 into the head Rotate the two earpieces band 2 . You now save space when storing the headphones. Cleaning TAKE NOTE Do not allow any liquids to penetrate inside the earclip headphones. This could cause irreparable damage to them. Wipe the outer surfaces of the headphones with a slightly damp cloth. Storage Store the headphones in a dry environment. 8 SKH 40 A1 Troubleshooting Troubleshooting Malfunction causes and remedies The following table will help with localizing and remedying minor malfunctions: Defect Possible cause Solution GB The playback device is not switched on. SKH 40 A1 9 Disposal/Appendix GB Disposal Do not dispose of the device in your normal domestic waste. This device is subject to the provisions of European Guidelines 2002/96/EC. Dispose of the device through an approved disposal centre or at your community waste facility. Observe the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, please contact your waste disposal centre. These headphones have been manufactured with care and meticulously examined before delivery. Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of a warranty claim, please get in touch, by telephone, with our service department. Only in this way can a free despatch for your goods be guaranteed. NOTICE The warranty covers only claims for material and manufacturing defects, not for transport damage, wear and tear or for damage to fragile components, e.g. switches or rechargeable batteries. These headphones are intended exclusively for domestic use and not for commercial applications. The warranty is void in the case of abusive and improper handling, use of force and internal modifications not carried out by our authorized Service Centre. Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by this warranty. The warranty period is not extended through repairs made under warranty. This applies also for replaced or repaired parts. Any damages or deficiencies found on purchase must be reported as soon as possible after unpacking, at the latest by two days after purchase.
